Croquembouche?

The traditional wedding cake in France is a croquembouche... a pyramid of puffs filled with cream and sticking together with caramel. The "tower" is resting on "nougatine". They are fun, just not my style.
My mom had the best idea: a macaron "croquembouche". Sounds like the best cake ever, but the venue didn't want any food from outside.

Final idea: an american style cake! Another way to include Rich's culture into the wedding. But in France, we don't really have bakers doing this kind of cakes. So I decided to make it myself! How did we go around the venue's rules? No one makes those cakes in Rennes so they made an exception just for us :-)
